About Gloria Mahin, MA, LPC
Gloria Mahin has worked in the field of human services for almost ten years with a wide range of populations and issues. Gloria obtained her master's degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, one of the main educational centers for Expressive Arts Therapy in the country where many of her professors were innovators in the field. Gloria is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina and has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in the Triangle area since moving to the area in 2006. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Theatre from West Virginia University, and is currently working toward obtaining her registration as an Expressive Arts Therapist through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. She recently presented her research in using dance therapy with adolescent girls at the International Expressive Arts Therapy Conference in 2009. Gloria lives in Cary with her husband and cat, and enjoys singing, dancing, and drumming at community events whenever she can.
When art and psychotherapy are joined, the scope and depth of each can be expanded, and when working together, they are tied to the continuities of humanity's history of healing.
